Unforgiveness

Swallow the ash

Of your own unforgiveness

You brought yourself here,

So climb out of the pit

Your own tongue dug for itself

Face your own lack of understanding

Stare down the things you

Once mocked

Take responsibility for

The pain you have caused

As you climb, the torment you

Caused others shall

Be written on your striving hands

You will not find the means to

Scale the walls of your pit

You cannot escape a prison built

Around you, by yourself

You will be brought lower that

You even have been in your entire life

You will crave the taste of dust

After the ashes you will swallow

You will become so low

That the sky will not return to you

Desperate, you will scream teh

Names of those you hurt

They will come to you, like blessings

They will pick you up from the dust

Without your permission, they will

Help cleanse you of your own

Unforgiveness of self

Their pity is your pardon,

The pity of the least on the Earth,

Their kindness your means of escape

From the prison of unforgiveness

You built around yourself

You are freed by grace
