Two X Chromosomes

I remember

The middle of November

Back in seventh grade

In biology

We were taught to see

How each of us was made

A bird and a bee

One plus one equals three

Produced what I am today

But what got me the most

So fully engrossed

Were the chromosomes that met halfway

Two X chromosomes

Built into my bones

Made me a pretty young thing

All this to make me unique

And that’s who I am so to speak

Combination and coordination just in time for spring
