The Turning Pointe
The Turning Pointe It all first really started, when I was just at the age of three,Taking ballet, once a week, just my cousins and me. My little pink tutu and my little pink shoes,One hour of pliers, jumps, kicks, and tendus. Destined to be a ballerina, my parents only said yes.For the next few years, I was being put to that first test. Artistic Dance Academy would become my second home,Broadening my dance horizons from Alaska and near to Rome. Four times a week and more like, four hours at a time,All of my dance shoes against the wall, in one perfect, straight, neat line. Ballet, tap, hip hop, jazz and modern, No doubt that my dancing skills wouldn't go any farther. Dreaming of those colleges, from VA to Michigan,Even in Missouri, I hoped two of three would easily accept me in. You all pay money to watch me and find me so unique. Yet, when I see myself, always negative critique. Perfection isn't my goal and failure isn't the option,But who can be there to help me, if quitters never win. Freshmen year was the biggest change, and for that, I'm more than glad.Because Melissa Norwood, was the best person I met and never had. Having a great role model doesn't mean a thing. It's the bond that grew between us with every passing week. With my last year almost at its end and my new lone life beginning,I have huge choices to make and big shoes that need filling in. So through my humble victories with dance and sometimes strife,I am absolutely sure I've finally found that TURNING POINTE IN LIFE.
