Truth

There is nothing more frightening
More ominous and dangerous
Nothing so hard and hurtful
As the the cold bleak truth

And when the truth is hidden
unknown and treacherous
When it's believed to be a lie
So often it is in youth

It is insurmountably kind
It is unknown to exist
The least of worries
Begot and forgotten

But, when the truth is there
Hidden like a mist
Known yet teasing
Refusing to be gotten

There is where the pain begins
There is how sanity becomes question
There is where years are wasted
To reveal this almighty foe

Such is the coldness of the eyes
Those of one in obsession
Compression, depression
Never letting go

The hunt begins
All will fight
Such a tricky enemy
A never ending game

But this enemy knows your secrets
Can tear you down with delight
This one follows you and tortures you
It will take you all the same

No one is safe
This beast will consume you
All your life wasted
No pity for the soul

Your eyes will blacken
Your heart turn blue
And the only thing you crave
Is the truth. Whole.
