Trust in Art

How does one start on a canvas?

What makes a stroke of the brush?

We all have it in us

It’s only a matter of trust

Trust the colors you mix together

Mix well your yellows, purples, and whites

See what can be made into some other

Colors soft and downy or dark as night

Trust in the knife as it cuts up the colors

Make them even, straight, and true

Because when you cut colors don’t just be a cutter

Be a your own artist too

Trust in the brush, with that you make pictures

It speaks the voice of the heart

You’ll make symbols, lines, smooth and tough textures

All of which you are apart

Trust in the canvas, it holds up your story

You fill it with truth and fact

But in trust you must have in your own quarry

For that’s really where trust should be at
