A Tree

Location

Life starts out so simple

As the flowers begin to bloom,

You see their vibrant colors

And, to you, there is no gloom.

The summer sun grows hotter

As you begin to sweat,

No one told you you’d be wishing

For a time the sun will set.

You begin to lose your color

You wonder when it left,

It’s hard to trust it’ll come back

When you blame it all on theft.

The nights drag out longer

As you reminisce the past,

You wish someone had told you

How life goes by so fast.
