Trapped in Forever
I'm caught between two lives,
the life of a wife and that of a child
I cry because I’m confused,
Am I not only ten?
But he promised bags of millet and rice
If only I’d come with him
I cry because I’m hurting
Isn’t he forty years of age?
A mischievous tear slides down my cheek
but I quickly wipe it before mommy sees
where’s Shahuda?
You may ask.
I’m a picture drawn near the sea shore
I'm remembered for a while,
But when the waves come
it is then that I fade away...
My name becomes gossip between the winds
The Autumn leaves, only they whisper my name
I become a deleted computer file.
A soft inaudible whisper.
A forgotten name, a lost face.
A hidden path, an unknown fate.
