Trails

Life is a thin trail in the midst of a wonderland forest

It is always new, never predictable

Toe by to I step working towards the end

However the path isn't as simple as a stroll in the park

Randomly, distractions come like flying like cicadas

Blinding me from the trail

Tripping I stumble away from the path sunlit

Into the dark unpredictable forest

Once the dust clears I pick myself up

Fears of failure try and hold me back

Like tangled ivy around my feet

But I stand there searching for the familiar

Fragments that helped me reach my goals before

Thinking of what I can achieve, I can see specks of light

Positive thoughts of art, and a bright future clear the forest

I thinking of how far I've come, I slowly I detangle my feet

There is still more ground for me to walk

Striving for the unfamiliar and excited for the future

I free myself from the leafy grip

Continuing on the journey that has only just begun.
