Too Many Papers to Pass Back

Sun, 04/23/2017 - 19:27 -- JaimeA

You see it in their faces and on the street,

childrens’ faces hungry, angry, and weak.

You pass back their papers,

oh no Johnny got a D.

Let’s rewind a little time to last night,

when Johnny didn’t have anything to eat.

Let’s blame the Mom who didn’t have time to cook,

or the fact she didn’t have any bills in her pocketbook.

Let’s blame the Dad who is nowhere in sight,

he’s is once again at the bar tonight.

Let’s blame the government who let Johnny’s family slip through the cracks,

they really didn’t care as long as they paid their income tax.

Let’s blame the teacher who has too many papers to pass back,

always feeling like she is under attack
