No one ever wants it,
No one ever deserves it,
It just happens.
I knew a young man who was the sweetest thing in the world,
Everything he did was with a smile on his face.
He brought joy to everyone he met and they all loved him dearly.
I used to think that nothing could wipe that smile off of his face,
Until the day he came to me,
In need.
He cried,
He regretted his life.
He felt cheap and worthless and I couldn’t understand why.
He wiped the waterfalls of disgust from his eyes,
Long enough to tell me what was wrong.
He was raped last night…
I didn’t know what to do,
So I did all I knew and held him.
Rape.
Some things never cross your mind until it actually happens to someone you know.
He said he felt dirty,
Disgusting
Vulnerable.
But the worst part of it all is that I couldn’t do a damn thing about it.
But if you ask me what I think,
All you need to do is be there for a friend.
