Here, take a tissue
A tissue for your tears.
Your tears about your fears.
Your tears about your past years.
I can feel the trembling in your legs
I see the twitching in your eye
And the pain in your stride.
I know you,
Even when you don't want me to
So, here
Take a tissue.
Take a towel.

Take a napkin.
I can see the pain falling
From your lips to your lap
And, I'm trying to help.
After years of holding it in,
Your body can't take it.
It yearns for regurgitation.

Here take a tissue.
Eventually, you're going to need a toilet.
And I can provide that too,
You deserve my patience.
My love
My attention
I may not know how you feel,
But I can be a shoulder to cry on.
I can be a rock to lean on.
I am here until the sun goes down
And even until the moon follows suit.
I love you.
And that's what true friends do.
So,
Here take a tissue.

Just know that when you're tears are running low.
And happiness is by your side.
I have been hurting inside for all this time
So, please
Offer me a tissue.
Don't ignore it
Don't misconstrue my silence.
Offer me a tissue.
For my tears.
For my tears about unknown fears.
You can,
Feel the trembling in my legs
You,
See the twitching in my eyes
And the pain in my stride.
You know me
Even when I don't you to
But here
This tissue is for you.

This poem reminds me a lot of something an old head use to tell the class a lot: Hurt people hurt people. Tissue, though very repetitive offers up exactly the right amount of someone else's pain, one's person pain and shared pain to have it effect anyone who reads it. Thank you so much for sending this in.

Becca.
