For the time being

Only the snow that falls

knows the things that cannot be seen.

The entire world is a very narrow bridge

with people scattered in between.

I close my eyes

and pretend these people aren't so mean.

The essential thing is to have no fear at all

even when the grass is no longer green.

So I carefully walk the fence line.

The sun is gone, I no longer need sunscreen,

but this memory keeps me warm enough-

for the time being.

If i walk too far these tears will freeze

into something that is unforseen.

The fire that was you burns against my skin,

but as I walk farther the burns fade clean.

The frozen tears melt away

from this ugly scene.

I am no longer afraid of

the people scattered in between.
