As the Tide Starts Coming In

As the tide starts coming in

And everything you do is a sin

The sun beats down on your skin.

The waves crash against the shore

And you do wrong once more

You’re so vain it makes you sore

And it hurts. Oh, it hurts.

The gravel crunches under your feet

And you feel the need to retreat

Because every time it’s just a defeat.

You wander until you get lost

And you’re thinking of the cost

The cost that counts the most

Life. And it hurts. Oh, it hurts.
