Through My Mother's Eyes

I have traveled many places.
I have seen many faces.
I have done many things.
The future is unforeseen
And we can never know what is coming next.
While vacationing with my family in the Grand Canyon,
Watching the sun set fire across the sky,
It slowly falling asleep below the rocky horizon,
I say to my girls-
“Look! Take it all in. This might be your only chance.”
I witnessed the sun set, driving through the Painted Desert,
Rode a gondola in the swimming streets of Milan,
Walked up to thoughtful faces of Mt. Rushmore
And snorkeled in the Bahamas,
The fish peeking out and smiling from between the twirling reefs
And I am still not finished looking.
From the Las Vegas Stratosphere
To the laughs of Disney World
I can never forget the memories
That have been made
Or the experiences that I have had
With the people that I love.
I seize the moment.
Carpe Diem.
