"Through the Eyes of a Soldier"

Under all that armor
You see a broken-hearted man
Stuck in this mess
He was cryin’
He couldn’t take the stress.
Prayin’ “please take me away
From this misery”

Tried to end his life
Cuz he lost his child and his wife.
They’re both gone,
Didn’t find out until later on.

He grabbed a gun.
Went down on his knees,
Thinking his problems would be done.

Soldiers nearby ran and grabbed his hands, and picked him up,
To help him stand.
He threw himself to the ground,
He never opened his eyes
Until just now…

He screamed, “you don’t understand.
I lost everything that I loved”

The soldiers swept him off his feet and said,
“You’re a soldier we want to keep.
We leave no one behind”

He stood up, wiped the tears away,
Knowing everything was fine
When the soldiers were behind

So he put on his armor,
Back to the battlefield.
Although there was fear in his eyes,
He saluted his soldiers.

He looked off in the distance,
Finding his wife and child
Fade away.
Tears of joy streamed down his face.
Him,
Knowing he’ll see them another day.
