Narcissus, in an age long past,

Did gaze into a pond with awe,

To see what fairness there lies fast,

But merely his own image saw.

 

And if but one thing I could change,

‘Twould be the stifling pride of man;

That Narcissus might fain exchange

His hauter for such beauty grand.
