The Three Letter Word

A simple three letter word has followed me around

But the impact it has on my life is profound

A weight

A burden

Upon my shoulders for what seems an eternity

I am never free

The water runs, the soap is gone

And I feel numb

Two hours have passed

My time now wasted

All because the three letter word follows me around

I try to shake it off

But it stands tall

I lose hope

On the days that I'm alone

And it seems like I'll never get through

Because the three letter word seems to follow me around

I try to do things step by step

But they don't always go my way

And my heart begins to pound

So loud

A drum in my chest

That won't stop

Wherever I go

I am bound

To the three letter word that follows me around

I don't want to live this way

So everyday

I try and try

To make the three letter word less a part of me

Day by day

There's less weight on my shoulders

And I have more hope

More faith

That the three letter word will soon be a distant voice in the past

I know

I just know
