A Thought on Perfection
Why do we all chase the same pipe dream?
The hazy belief that something so wanted can ever be found.
That amongst all the mess and the ugly and the selfishness that we could find something
or someone, that is absolute perfection.
Yes, it is a pipe dream.
Inside all of us, is the longing for one thing to be right, made by nature, and right.
Not something spit out by a mess of metal and sparks that is incomprehensibly complex,
but something natural. Crafted with our mind, and seared to perfection.
But what shocks me more, is the fear and scorn of everything that is
imperfect.
For none of us is perfect, naturally, of course, yet we can judge all the surrounding imperfections with a glorified ease.
Hypocrisy at its finest, humanity at its finest.
When did man acquire this blindness of himself?
Before or after he was able to see his own image
reflected back at him in the water?
When did I start searching for perfection? It must’ve been the same time I learned of
imperfection. When,
can you tell me? did the imperfections count for more than the little perfections?
That’s where I went wrong, and in all honesty, it went wrong before you were here.
Now I wonder,
this little pipe dream, although it is not attainable, should I strive for something
better, something closer
or put down the pen, and turn a blind eye to the imperfections
in all of us. No one person can decide whose flaws
are laughable or strange. Imperfections make us human.
They make us beautiful.
They make us lovable.
They make us,
us.
