They See the Smile
They see the smile,
Assuming everything's alright.
Little do they know,
She cries herself to sleep at night.
She tries to hide her sobs as her father stirs awake.
She dares her shoulders not to shake.
He rubs his groggy eyes,
He has no clue
That his little girl could be feeling so blue.
Feeling trapped, so alone.
Angry, all alone.
Surrounded by a sea of people, but still feeling so alone.
They see the smile,
Assuring them she's just fine.
Little do they know,
Inside she's tangled like a vine.
Can no one hear her silent calls?
Just wait until darkness falls.
There is so much truth hidden in her lies.
Wishes she was like a bird that just flies.
Her mind a mess,
Her self-esteem a little less.
All she was trying to do was give it her best.
They see the smile,
Assuring them she's alright.
Little do they know,
The demons come out at night.
She won't say how she feels.
If it isn't said outloud then how can it be real?
