With These Earbuds My Sanity Is Saved

The night makes me feel so alone.
R for right,
L for left,
that triangle for play:
the sounds of guitars
and beautiful voices
soothe me,
assure me they're lonely too.
I want to rip my heart out,
and he screams in empathy.
These gentlemen serenading
and I have an understanding
that fills me with each note.
Every time I'm wronged,
or crushed,
obliterated,
they assist in the reattachment of these pieces.
When I can't utter a word,
they find a way to comfort me.
They don't ask questions,
just say the right things,
and they save my sanity
as I lose my hearing.
