That's What I Said

Location

If  I could do anything to make a living,

I would do everything I could

to give myself away.

Call it piracy:

I would take my struggles and my pain

and throw them to the world to make a point.

I would write down my pain in lines

and lyrics and give them flight into the big wide world.

I would scratch out my past in prose and speak

of what people need to hear,

not want to hear -- wanting is for those fulfilled --

but I would say what I could to pull people up.

So I will learn.

I'll read. I'll surround myself with brilliance.

And I will speak.

I will be wrong,

but I will be learning.

If I could do anything, I would write.
