Texas is known as the Lone Star State

With mockingbirds and blue bonnets it is our twenty- eighth state

Texas is known for horses and cattle

and our fight for freedome at the San Jacinto Battle 

Texas was once a part of Mexico 

On March 1, 1836 we won our independence, "Remember the Alamo"

Sam Houston was chosen to lead our great state

as the first governor of Texas his legacy was great

The Texas Declaration of Independence was signed the next day 

the fourth of July is when we all celebrate

there is no ogther place I would rather be

because the state of Texas is home to me
