The Teratogen that Raised Me


You act so tough,

You act so brave.

But really,

you are the empty beer bottles

that you used to hide.


you couldn't face the world

with who you really were.

you had this foundation

that was thick like frosted glass,

but you were translucent to me.


I saw right through to your emptiness.

To your empty promises

and conversations.
