Teacher

You ask me if I’m better

You say I am better

I tell you that’s a lie

It seems we don’t see eye to eye

If you only read my paper

You’d see why I’m annoyed

You like to play hero

Like to think you helped

You don’t listen

You only hear

You know what’s the difference?

When you hear it goes in and out the other ear

But when you listen it sinks in

And if you’d listen you’d know I’m lying

You’d know the face I wear is a disguise

I’m smiling

I’m smiling so nobody sees my pain

So you don’t see me crying

And I do this day after day

I’m drowning

I’m breaking

You can’t do anything

Cause I hate me

But I’m faking all of this

So people don’t know

I’m broken

I’m battered

My heart has shattered

No longer pieces

But you’ll never see this
