Takes One To Know One

stranded on purple sand island

with waters surrounding our feet

no bags no belongings

just eachother

breezes blow her long dark hair

back and forth

back and forth

as her toes dig beneath the sand

coconuts surround the land

my sister climbs high up

knocking seven down

one by one

three years apart but closer than ever

we laugh as we spear fish

and build our tent with

extra large dark green palm leaves

hand in hand we splash

large waves take over the island

causing shrieks of laughter

from my younger sister's lips

her shadow hovers over mine

three inches to be exact

while the sun sets over

purple sand island
