TAKERS
Take advantage
Take for granted
Take all I have to give,
Then ask for more.
And while I concede, even making sacrifices to do so,
I feel no gratitude, no appreciation.
Your thank you feels hollow, superficial
As if to instead say,
“You’ve got the means, I expect you to help me.”
As if I myself am not struggling.
Still, I take the time, expend the energy,
Provide what you require.
Until another need arises, another favor, another loan.
A continuous cycle of feeling over used & under appreciated.
Take advantage
Take for granted
Take all I have to give,
Then ask for more…
This must be what the giving tree felt like.

I really like how you used the same four lines in the beginning and end of the poem, to give it a circular feeling. This definitely adds to the sense that people will keep "taking" and will continue to do so, since a circle is never-ending. Wonderful poem- check out "poetry writing tips" in the "resources" section for even more inspiration!
