To take up your cross and follow ...

Matthew 10:37-39

37 “If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine;

or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine.

38 If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine.

39 If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.

To take up the Cross is to lay all on the altar of sacrifice.

Spirituality where does it start ... where is its beginning?

Is it with consecration ... where God demands my all?

All “my” love and heart ... all from the first inning

That will be a fatal blow ... to soul and thought in all.

To give up everything I am ... and all I want to do.

All things that comes so natural ... and I seem to enjoy.

All my wants and wishes ... that developed when I grew

Which I called mine ... and now need to be destroyed

This will divide my heart ... and the things I cling too.

Give up the way of ease ... and drag and bear “my” cross.

My soul will fight all the way and triggers the mind to do so

And instead of willingness ... rebelliousness will be my loss

So it takes more than me ... to carry “my” own cross.

My old man, the natural ... is an obstacle I can’t face.

It takes the Holy Spirit ... to keep me from being tossed

To supply the strength I need ... into this other phase.

Not to follow Jesus ... is to ignore and to deny Him.

Not to pick up “my” cross ... is going the other way.

And in doing so ... I am ignoring God the Father

And that is the end my friend as temporal fades away.
