Take A Breath

Rhyming isn’t my specialty, but memories help show the light of our darkest times

The day I couldn’t write a poem, I scavenger my memories to write about something

The day I remember was when somebody I loved told me something hurtful

I went home that day and yelled at my sister

She told me, “Alison take a breath

Take a breath because you are angry

Take a breath for the people you love

Take a breath because someday he’ll come around

Take a breath because he will see that you were the only one who cared

He will see you are beautiful

He will regret everything he said to you

It might take time, but be patience

Patience show beauty

It shows that you are willing to deal with him

If he can’t see it, he’s lost

I tried to interrupt

She puts her hand on my shoulders and makes me sit down

She says to me, “Alison take a breath

The world is unfair

The only way you can change it is by taking a breath

You can’t change it if your dead

If he thinks that he’s going to make it on his own he’s lost

He’s going to see that in time he’s wrong

He’s going to see that you were always there for him

If you don’t take a breath how can you be there for him

Take a breath because it’s the right thing to do

Take a breath because you care

Take a breath because you aren’t

All that yelling is causing you to be sad

Be happy you can stand next to him

Be happy that you can breathe

Take a breath because you can

If you don’t take a breath you leave everyone behind

Don’t waste your breath on anger

Take a breath because he’ll see the real you

Take a breath because you are strong

Take a breath because you are hopeful

Take a breath because you tried

Take a breath for the step in the right direction

Maybe someday the favors will come your way

I looked at my sister

I nod my head and I took that breath
