MamÍ, would you love me if I were the sun

that everything revolves around

Would you have felt less empty

On the day of your ultrasound

Mamá, would you love me if I were clay

On which to practice human pottery

Would you have felt more blessed

If I had won the genetic lottery

Mommy, would you love me if I were diamond

And impossible to break

Would you have had less worries

If I were always less at stake

Mom, would you love me if I were ink

And impossible to stain

Would you feel more accomplished

If I were able to carry a name

Mother, would you love me if I were the son

Whom everything revolves around

This is absolutely beautiful... passionate beyond words. Poetry is meant to touch people's inner heart. This is the first poem I've read on here that's done that.
