In the United States Declaration of Independence

It is stated that "all men are created equal"

This one small part of a sentence

Does not seem very deceitful

Yet it contains weight beyond its simple syntax

It is time for America to face the facts

I'm tired of living in a country where some people can not love freely

Which is something everyone should be able to do ideally

Gays and homosexuals in the US

Must live a life full of constant stress

You don't choose who you love

And it's not something that should be made fun of

To be discriminated based on preference

Is not necessarily viewed in deference

Love should know no bounds

And it should be spread all around

Perhaps if gender and race did not exist

It would be easier for us all to coexist
