Sword and Sharpening

Could I tell this, my rapid-fire heart,

to slow down a beat; I don't think I would,

Because, somewhere far off, apart,

In the deep of my soul it too, feels good.

You feel good to me, like a shining sun.

We are like whetstones to one another,

and like blades all put together in one.

What ragged edges linger, you smother,

Until I am refined, new and polished,

And shining through, the dark lingering on you,

Stronger, the both of us, since we first kissed

And yet weaker, more vulnerable too,

And ever grateful, I am to be so,

Connected by love, I go where you go.
