To Swim in Your Shoes for One Day

To swim in your shoes for one day,
Would drown me.
The shoes of a man,
Whose withering body stumbles
Under the weight of the world.

The world’s strongest man,
Would break every bone,
Attempting to support a fraction of,
Your world.

We glimpse at your world,
In this one glimpse we see,
The smile you choose to wear,
When any one of us would,
Crumble in tears.

We see the everlasting patience you hold,
When someone doesn’t really understand.
The bursts of impatience,
When they choose to not understand.

We hear the regret in your voice,
When you think,
Of those two little balls of energy,
And the love of your life.

The strength you hold in your soul,
Could pull the sunshine,
Through the darkest day.

If anyone swam in your shoes for one day,
They would be lost in the darkest ocean.
These shoes were assigned unfairly,
You’ve proven it doesn’t matter,
You become what you have to,
To survive.
