The Sunflower Girl

Tue, 07/02/2019 - 21:06 -- A Finch

Alongside the beaten path

Leading in and out of town,

Wildflowers burst through the earth

Calling that trail their own.

But one above the rest did rise,

Her figure reached up to heaven.

Those golden locks and chestnut eyes

Forever with my mind are woven

When ere I chance this way

I ‘ll look not for another;

There are many flowers in earth’s bouquet

But I love none but her.
