Sunflower

I used to wonder who I was

What I was supposed to be.

I stood there amongst an empty field

standing all tall,

awkward and lanky.

My deep shade of pecan, growing darker by the minute.

face sprinkled with freckles.

My golden flowing locks of hair, uncomfined and tossed by the breeze.

I stood, gawking with this foolish grin plasterd across my face.

I was in awe, always gazing in your direction.

You.

Your golden hair, always tossed and messy

which complimented your perfect golden complexion.

You always shone.

Your love was relentless.

You burned hot for me.

I am forever loyal to you.

Your love is all I need to survive.

No one else will ever steal my attention.

My eyes will always be on you.

Even at night,

when the moon shines its seductive light on my back.

I will never falter.

I will sleep until the next morning.

Where I will face you again, and drink up your love.

You are my sun.

And I, your sunflower.
