Sun

Location

There is the sky

Above my head

Engulfing the sun

Glaring down at me

Oh what I wouldn’t give

To take that sun

And drop it into the sea

Extinguishing the radiant beams

The sun is my polar opposite

A judgmental overseer

Baring a positive light

On my dank conscience

It’s true that I am dark

What have I become

The younger, spritely girl

Has dried up in the sun

I never asked to be this way

An empty void no emotion can fill

Like a deep sea abyss

Distant and cold

I never asked to be this way

A polished face stained by tears

A porcelain mask

Cracked from the pressure

I never asked to be this way

A single species on a desert island

No one to connect with

To reach out to in my pain

I never asked to be this way

Tormented by psychological demons

An eternal rampage

Trapped within my mind

No, I never asked to be this way

Nor did I ever want to be

Yet somehow I have become

Depressed

Oh what I wouldn’t give

To take that sun

And drop it down inside of me

To clear away such dreadful pain
