The Summer

Its was painful to let go

But I'll remember the summer

When we made love in the tower

Over Manhattan

Ate tartine and enjoyed wine

Laced fingers on Mulberry street

And I helped you as you stumbled home drunk

And threw you in a cab and kissed you goodnight

As you told me I was so beautiful

And ill remember the summer

The night you rendered me useless

The sting of dissappointment

I'll remember the day

You escaped, went MIA

You drove a across the country

With the plan to you I gave

And my heart shattered to pieces

I'll remember the summer

I sat trembling waiting for your message

and you didn't know or care

When the summer was over

I ripped up the ticket to the LIRR

And your kindess faded away as memory
