Summer’s last Stand

Southern winds keep the cool away

One last splash of sea and sun

Glovers mated record pairs survival of a species, now off to a winter haven

This Island I came to rest, stolen days, oh and joy

Walk again till spring comes say goodbye to the winter friends

Come spring I will see you again

Mind drifts to words shared with the wind

Walking again on a shore, sand in my toes and all alone

Wondering why I have survived

Past fades as I parade

Love found mind is sound

I pray others will see the man, see this man

Today he helps stock the cans

Today he listens to another man

Today he helps another soul, gives thanks, but for the grace...

Spring, summer and fall this island saved his soul

Now he moves to winter haven and follows the migration

So much joy and happiness he has, thank you island of sand
