They say candles bring peace and so I dug some out from the back of the linen closet,
lost under a shuffle of old rags and never-been-touched placemats.
I had to light the candles with the blunt end of a pencil because we ran out of matches.
P.S. “snuggly sweater” just smells like soap.
Had to scavenge for quarters under white washed machines at The Laundry Mat,
a fist full of change for a couple of stray pens and a green pad of paper
(green was on sale – what a bargain)
so maybe finally I can calm down
because I can’t burn a pen until the ink runs dry.
The plastic smells like sulfur and dog food, but I guess that’s the price I pay.
