The Student of Knowledge

Sun, 09/01/2019 - 19:11 -- Ian C

Alone in a quiet corner of the library she sits,

Surrounded by stacks of books and papers, bobs and bits --

With her hair in a ponytail, a coffee, and an open computer,

She looks just like any other undergrad but something is off.

Her retro clothes are original and her words are 30 years out of date.

Every now and then her real accent slips out, it's not human

But it is beautiful. Pure light and knowledge given form.

She is just like you but not, studying and reading and learning.

Her laptop and water bottle are decorated with owls and olives

And stamps from all over the world. Those that seek knowledge

Quietly around her might find it just a hair easier to learn, to remember.

If you ask her a question she can’t help but answer -- except for one...

“Who are you?”

“Oh I’m just Thea” is all she’ll reveal.

Though rumour has it, that’s short for Athena.
