Struggles

Ephesians 6:12

12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers,

against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness,

against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.

How much is left of nothing?

Why does it seem so heavy?

If my sins are all forgiven

why does rest pass me by?

I try for Christ to show me

that peace beyond understanding.

All I see is my past

to just make me cry

“Death where is thy sting?”

Well don’t look any farther

It is stinging me day and night

and I’m sick and tired of it

Where is “Joy of Salvation”?

that overcomes creation

Where is the “Joy of suffering”?

and what is left of it

I’m supposed to live forever

and reside in Glory

to reach beyond the stars

into Heaven’s psalm

Oh flesh! Why do you cling to me?

You know I can’t let go

You strangle me and pull me down.

removing all realms of calm

Flesh, “Why don’t you love me?”
