The Story of a Girl

Location

this is the story of a little school girl

she went each day but had no friends

she tried real hard to be nice and play

but all she got back was names and pain

she ignored as best she could

the hurtful things said by everyone

but that didn't make it go away

the words stuck with her every day

they called her fat, ugly, and more

each time she just stood there

believing it more and more

it wasn't her fault she had no home

it wasn't her fault she had no clothes

it wasn't her fault she spoke funny

it wasn't her fault she wore glasses

it wasn't her fault she had no one

none of it was her fault but still

she couldn't escape the names

that chased her each day

fat! ugly! weird! four-eyes!

smelly! cry-baby! stupid!

she didn't say anything back

because she knew what they didn't,

she knew each stab left a wound

she knew each word haunted you

she knew she'd never forget

the pain she'd survive

at the age of only five...
