A Stormy Encounter

The angry skies on a sleepless night,

Rolling thunder, flashes of light,

A tireless battle midst roiling clouds.

A quick parry, a sudden thrust,

Their booming voices,

The sharp crack of their weapons colliding.

Powerful warriors, displays of might.

Lightning stabs the dark,

It’s jagged edges precise against the inky black.

This fearsome performance I watch, electrified,

In awe of this force of nature.

Suddenly it fades, the contenders retreat.

The falling of rain is the only sound.

Soon that too takes its leave, and I am left in the deafening silence

Of the calm after the storm.
