Stone Walls and Porcelain Shells

She walks among us
Dead to the world
Hollow and cold
She’s only a shell of the girl she used to be
Long ago she went numb
Caring for nothing and no one
Unmoving, it seemed she had no worries

But in her heart
A hurricane raged
Tearing down everything in its path
She’s fighting to contain it
But eventually, this monster will let lose
And everyone will fear its wrath

Once so strong and beautiful,
This girl could face the world,
Win every battle,
And save everyone she cared for.
But now her world falls into pieces
Down the stone walls crumble
The walls she built around her heart
Shatter like glass and porcelain shells.
The shards scatter
Pieces of her life missing,
Never to be seen again.
She’ll never be the same
There’ll always be a chip missing
Out of place
In the depths of her heart

Her porcelain face
Scarred and broken
From years of salty tears
Streaming down her cheeks
Like the waves on the shore
Breaking this porcelain shell

Damaged and shattered
She swore “never again”
She built her stone walls high
Thinking nothing could harm her
But she was wrong
They collapse on top of her
Killing the heart that once beat so strong

Build a wall around you heart
And you will be nothing more than an empty shell.

Stone walls and porcelain shells
All break in time
Fast or slow
They will one day fall
