STATUE
When I die build a statue of me
So you’ll never feel alone
Make my body an empty shell of glass
See though to the real me
Give me a light bulb for a brain
And a heart made of fools gold
Glue tiny feather butterflies in my stomach
And fill my legs with concrete
So this time I’ll stay
Let my hair be silk
And braid it like we used to
Like ends of a friendship bracelet
That never broke
My lips should be two rolled up poems
So I’ll always have something to say
Lastly fill my lungs with air
From the place I was born
So my first and last breaths will be the same

When I die build a statue of me
So I’ll be beautiful and strong
