The Stars

Everyday is like swimming in sand.

You can't stand, you can't see, you can't feel.

Everyday you think of the others that had the courage.

They had the courage to finish what they started.

Everyday a soul is taken;

By a blade, a gun, a rope.

A single jump would end it all.

Free-falling to your end.

The lights below call your name.

The blacktop looks so tempting.

It's like the smooth, black silk when you close your eyes.

It calls to you like a sweet dream.

The breeze of the summer night brushes your hair against your face.

You take a deep breath in.

The cars rush by below your feet.

You close your eyes and listen.

You hear a small voice.

It's telling you to step down.

The wind pushes you back.

You open your eyes and turn your face to the stars.

You suddely start to remember all of the small things that once made you happy.

You smile, for the first time in a long time.

As you walk to the stairs, you think "not today."

Decending, you smile, knowing that you will survive another day.

You will be ok.

You are worth something.

The world needs you.
