Stars

I am not a lantern,

I did not glow up.

Don’t spare your laughter,

But I will not back up.

I do not shine like a star

In a twinkling sky.

You can play me like a guitar

But you’ll still have to pry.

Try to find sense in this verse,

My ramblings are long,

But I could make it worse

I could always go on.

Talking some nonsense

Trying to feel

Sparing no expense

Attempting to heal.

Your words are like knives

And often leave scars,

You take innocent lives

And then call them stars.
