Starry Skies

Bleeding bodies,

And untold lies.

The children sat

And asked us why.

Our mouths wide open

As we cried.

We pleaded for mercy

From starry skies.

The children disappeared

One by one,

Taken away by the gods.

Some burnt to ashes,

Some beaten bloody,

Some drowned in the river;

The water muddy.

Bleeding bodies,

And untold lies.

The child sat

And asked us why.

Her mouth wide open

As she cried.

She pleaded for mercy

From starry skies.

The little one sat,

Under starry skies

On the very edge of a cliff.

The stars came down,

Wrapped the girl like a gift,

And gave the very last one a lift.

Bleeding bodies,

And untold lies.

No children sit

And ask us why.

Our mouths wide open

As we cried.

We pleaded for mercy

From starry skies.
