Stare

Please don’t stare when you see me walking by

My disfigurement is only a small part of me

My sum is greater than all my parts

Nobody is perfect,

Many others’ faults cannot be seen though

I am frail, delicate nor weak

I deny the position that society has forced upon me

I fought against fear and insecurity

I’ve learned to live with it though

And I will win

But please don’t stare at me because inside

My heart does cry
