S.S. Hotline

The one who saved my soul

The one ship that sunk my heart

The sweet one who sputtered his inner thoughts to me,

A special species that is not common.

The single signal that woke me from my sleep,

The serial slayer of my heart and several others

A shot that was given to me that would set me free

It’s a single source of someones happiness,

The shortstop that could make or break a game

Or even a person who makes your head feel a sonic BOOM.

It could be the sunset you and your lover watched earlier,

Maybe the single speed your heart goes through when I see you,

Or the silence people hear in their mind before they commit suicide.

The one with the soul shining compared to the rest of the world

And the single strand of hope you may have that she might like you,

The single shot you have to prove to someone you can make them happy

But then their old sunshine shows up raining on your parade.

Sure, there are many meanings of this acronym,

Sure, it could mean anything.

But my isn’t a sunken ship,

or a super star,

it is a guy who has sadly stabbed my heart.

the guy I’ve been wishing for on every shooting star I’ve seen

with slick shoes and a superior soul,

his own secret service so he keeps his mystery.

He is the Steven Spielberg that writes his own story line

So sorry you had to find out this way,

that you’re the one who’s solved my sophisticated mind

and has taken away my single strength;
to not fall in love once again.
