A Spring of Hope

Comments

T. W. Hallum

From atop a mountain,

I looked and saw,

Gabriel storms of electric clarity,

giving thunderous proclamation;

as creation's Author roused the

earth from Winter's gray.

Morning's frost surrendered,

whilst the rising sun spread its

eager warmth on greening earth;

Fowl of the air, and beast of field

sang melodies of spring,

giving joyous herald of new life.

In joyful attendance with singular purpose,

Creation tended its young;

And with attentive ear, I heard nature's praise,

chirping and singing, lowing and bleating;

fowl and beast with unified voice,

glorifying the Father of all Creation.

While I pondered this Spring of life,

that great hymn of old came of mind;

               "O Lord my God,

               when I, in awesome wonder,

               consider all, the worlds

               Thy hands hath made.

               I see the stars, I hear the

               rolling thunder; Thy power

               throughout, the universe displayed.

               Then sings my soul, my

               Saviour God to Thee.

               How great Thou Art,

               How great Thou Art!"

And lest the rocks should cry out in my stead,

I lifted my voice, and enjoined nature's praise;

Gazing upon the Master's creation,

wondrous reality filled my soul,

for with marvelous spectacle of Spring,

He refills the stores of hope,

making bright, anticipation of tomorrow.
